The Lagos Water Corporation has introduced a new crawler bot system to help improve the management of underground water infrastructure and strengthen reliable access to potable water across the state.
The crawler bot, developed in partnership with Konsadem Associates and McAlpha Inc., moves through the pipelines while capturing high-definition footage, measurements, and data that detect corrosion, cracks, blockages, and possible leak points. It also maps pipe locations and sizes, giving the Corporation detailed insight into the current state of its infrastructure.
The new system will support better maintenance planning, reduce water losses, and improve supply consistency to residents. It will also work alongside GIS mapping and hydraulic modelling tools to support the ongoing digital transformation of the Lagos Water Corporation.
