The Secretary General of the Pan African Writers Association ( PAWA), Dr Wale Okediran has applauded the support of the government of Ghana towards the country’s book industry.
Dr Okediran who was the Chairman of the Opening Ceremony of the 23rd Ghana International Book Fair ( GIBF) on Thursday 27th August 2026 at the National Theater, Accra, Ghana however called on the government to sustain and improve the support which is essential for the growth and development of the Book Ecosystem.
Dr Okediran also used the occasion to congratulate the organizers of the Book Fair for their resilience and passion over the past 23 years.
While pledging PAWA’s support for the promotion of quality Book Fairs in Africa including literature in indigenous African and Ghananian languages, Okediran admonished all the stakeholders in the Book Industry ranging from authors, publishers, librarians and booksellers among others to also play their roles in the actualization of the Book Fair’s theme.
The 4-day book fiesta under the theme: ” Transforming Ghana’s Future Through Books” which attracted parents, teachers, students as well as local and international authors, booksellers publishers was declared open by the Minister for the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon Abla Dzifa Gomashie.
