CIG celebrates veteran music artiste – Charles Imoloame popularly known as Charlimo, as he clocks 70

Charles Ayemere Imoloame, popularly known as Charlimo, a veteran Nigerian musician, graphic designer, and vocal copyright activist, who has played a significant role in shaping the Nigerian music industry since the 1980s, has joined the septuagenarian ladder.

The Creative Industry Group through its President Ambassador Felix Duke, has on behalf of the Creative group congratulated the veteran music icon as he turns 70

According to Ambassador Duke, in congratulating the veteran music star, he highlighted the contribution of the vocal copyright artiste to the arts, describing him as a “living legend”.

“Charlimo is a renowned graphic artist and CEO of Charlimo Graphics based in Ikeja, Lagos. He designed iconic album covers for numerous Nigerian artists during the 1980s and 1990s. Notably, he won the 1989 Nigerian Music Awards (NMA) for Best Album Sleeve Design for Oritz Wiliki’s “Tribulations”, Amb Duke highlighted.

As a musician, he is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer, arranger, and producer. He performs with his band, “The Veterans”. Charlimo has been a prominent voice in protecting artists’ rights in Nigeria, advocating for fair royalties, stronger anti-piracy measures, and effective collective management of copyright works.

Charlimo served as the Lagos State Chairman of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) from 1994–1996 and as National Vice President from 1997–1999. He served on the board of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) and the Performing and Mechanical Rights Society of Nigeria (PMRS).Nigeria Music Club (NMC).
Currently he serves as the National Coordinator.

In 1992, he was honored with the African Youth Council Award for his artistic contributions and influence. He has also been appointed as an ECOWAS Youth Ambassador and received the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity.
