Veteran Nollywod actor – Kanayo O. Kanayo, has advised the umbrella body of actors in Nigeria, the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, to consider implementing a law that will enable actors earn lifetime royalties from movies they featured in . He said, this will alleviate the condition of some of his colleagues who die in penury when they are no longer active in their acting careers.
According to him, implementing a law where all Nigerian actors and actresses, will be getting lifetime royalty payments from movies they are featured in, which has been uploaded on streaming platforms will help ameliorate their suffering after retirement. The actor added that it’s important also to establish an Agency that will guide and make sure the policy is being implemented nationwide.
KOK said, this is an opportunity for a lifetime earnings for these thespians as most of them battle with poverty when they stop getting movie roles.
