The out going president of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas Ejezie, has raised the dust again as the on ,-going battle in the Senator Ned Nwoko marriage with Regina Daniels rages on.
In signed statement posted on his Instagram handle, the AGN President used the medium to clarify issues where accusing fingers were pointed at him and the guild . In the length post, he noted that it is important he cleared the air on some issues before he leaves office because of the misconception people have held about him and his involvement in the whole Ned family brouhaha.
He wrote:
“My dear colleagues in the entertainment industry, stakeholders, and fellow Nigerians, As I prepare to leave office, I believe it is important to address the many allegations, misconceptions, and unnecessary accusations that have been circulating. I owe it to myself, to the Guild, and to the public to speak the truth clearly and responsibly.
“On Prince Ned Nwoko & Regina Daniels
Let me begin with the matter many have been tagging me to respond to.
“Prince Ned Nwoko is the Chairman, Board of Patrons, AGN and Regina Daniels is a member of the Guild. Regina and her mother are also personally known to me, and because this is fundamentally a family issue, I have been deliberately silent not out of fear, but out of respect.
“However, as the President of AGN, and since my name is constantly being dragged, I must state my truth”.
Ejezie accused the Board of Trustees of always leaving him alone at the frontline of battleline anytime there are issues, while they tried to protect their image. This trend he said has gone on for years.
Adding that a lot of senior colleagues are away of what is happening in the industry but have decided to keep quiet over this.
He explained further:”For years, the Board of Trustees has allowed me to stand at the frontline of battles, while they protect their reputations from behind. Many senior colleagues know the truth surrounding recent events, yet they have remained silent.
“I am calling on those who were present at the last series shoot and fully aware of what is happening :Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko and Sanni Danji ,you were all on set during the last production in question. You saw things firsthand, especially regarding Regina and we all know she needs help. Your silence is unfair, and it leaves me exposed to attacks for matters I did not create”
Emeka further revealed that while some members of the Guild, including Regina Daniels were planning to travel to South Africa for a round table conference, Prince Nwoko, Regina Daniels’ husband called and told him, that the only condition he would allow her join them is only if she would not travel through Lagos.
He wrote: “While we were planning our roundtable meeting in South Africa, Senator Nwoko, called me personally and gave me a condition that he would only allow Regina to travel if I promise she doesn’t travel through Lagos.
“This is a fact, and I state it because it has been twisted against me repeatedly, he added.
Continuing, he wondered why the BoT members and other stakeholders, who have seen the impressive work his administration did in the last eight years are bent on pushing him out even as his tenure draws to a close.
Emeka noted that he still remains the only AGN president that has served out his tenure and also fixed a date to conduct election
“No AGN President has successful convened a Congress where all state chapters convened in one venue. Only my administration has done this twice successfully in Uyo, Akwa Ibom and Benin, Edo state respectively.
“To converge state chapters for a conventions, the Guild needs a lot of millions of naira and I have achieved this repeatedly without the help of anybody.
“The AGN convention has been fixed for the first week of December and nobody dead or alive can change it,” Emeka warned.
The out going president noted further that he will resist any person or group who will attempt to truncate the transition as he is not just a push over
“I am speaking now because people keep dragging my name, and the silence of stakeholders is also not helping matters
“If people choose to remain quiet because of the benefits they hope to receive, then I choose to clear my name, as I owe myself that dignity.
“I kindly ask that no one calls me privately about this statement. I have carried many burdens quietly for years, but I will not allow false accusations to stain my legacy.
“I have served with my whole heart, and I will leave with my integrity intact”, he concluded.
