Social media influencer Daniel Regha, has countered legendary actor Pete Edochie’s submission that it’s not in our culture for a man to kneel and propose to a woman.
The veteran actor while sharing his opinion in a interview with Bae U Barbie on Curiosity Made Me Ask Podcast, was asked to explain his position on a man proposing to a woman. Edochie said, it’s degrading for a man to go down on his knees and a offer a woman a ring, as this amounts to giving her leadership of the family.
“If you step down on your knee and you offer a woman a ring, you are conceding headship of the family to that woman,” Pete Edochie said.
However, Regha said, not kneeling down to propose to a woman is sheer ‘ego and pride’ from the man. He said, anybody that agrees with Pete Edochie’s submission that it’s a white man’s culture, is not being honest with himself because the same person will still go and do white wedding.
Daniel Regha said:
“Any man who can’t go on one knee to propose to a lady just has too much ego, it’s as simple as that. Too much pride. And don’t come with that “It’s not in our African/Nigerian culture” nαnsense talk, because the same persons agreeing with Pete Edochie, will go all out for white weddings.
Since y’all are so traditional, why not stick to just traditional marriage? And on Valentine’s day, don’t you encourage lodging in hotels to have sex? Or you don’t know that our Nigerian cultures prohibits intercourse outside marriage? Regha asked.
